The Train Trestle

1882 a railroad was built from Austin to the Burnet/ Marble Falls area to haul granite for use in the construction of the State Capitol building. Below the still-standing train trestle within Avery Ranch, lie large granite stones that fell from their carrier. Too heavy to lift back up the train, they were left behind and became monuments to that period in Texas history.
